Repository Policy

Repository Policy – Utilitas Mathematica Journal

At Utilitas Mathematica Journal, we recognize that today’s research ecosystem is decentralized, collaborative, and digitally distributed. We actively support the sharing and preservation of research across trusted repositories to maximize the visibility, impact, and accessibility of your work.

1. Authors’ Right to Share

Authors are encouraged—and fully permitted—to deposit the following versions of their manuscript in any public or institutional repository, without embargo:

Version Type Repository Use Allowed? Conditions
Preprint (before peer review) ✅ Yes Link to published version upon acceptance, if possible
Accepted Manuscript (after peer review, before typesetting) ✅ Yes Include citation + DOI of the final version
Published Version (Version of Record) ✅ Yes Must retain journal layout and CC BY license

This policy aligns with the SHERPA/RoMEO "Green Open Access" model.

2. Where Can You Archive?

Authors may deposit their work in:

  • Subject repositories (e.g. arXiv, HAL, Zenodo, bioRxiv for interdisciplinary work)

  • Institutional repositories

  • National or funder-mandated archives (e.g. CNRS, NIH, ERC, etc.)

  • Personal websites or academic profiles (e.g. ORCID, ResearchGate)

We also support linking to your work from your GitHub, Notion, or other open-source platforms, when appropriate.

3. Persistent Identifiers & Metadata

All published articles receive a DOI and are accompanied by rich metadata to ensure they are:

  • Easily indexed by search engines and databases

  • Interoperable with institutional repositories and research infrastructure

  • Discoverable via Crossref, ORCID, and other scholarly tools

We encourage authors to:

  • Add their article DOI to their ORCID profile

  • Link their repository records to the final published version

4. Licensing and Reuse

All versions made available in repositories must retain:

  • Clear citation to the journal

  • The Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0) notice

  • A link to the Version of Record on the journal website

This ensures that your work remains freely reusable, while still giving you the credit you deserve.

5. Funder & Policy Compliance

Our repository policy is fully compliant with:

  • Plan S

  • Horizon Europe

  • NIH Public Access Policy

  • NSF, UKRI, and other major funders

We work with authors to ensure that archiving and dissemination fulfill all open access mandates.

In Summary:

Mathematics doesn’t live in silos.
We believe in sharing knowledge across platforms, institutions, and borders.
Utilitas Mathematica Journal is your partner in open, ethical, and lasting dissemination.
