Abstract

The old Josephus problem concerning elimination of every third element is considered. It is proved that the sequence (J(n, 3)) may be obtained by gluing some finite arithmetic sequences with the difference 3. This is an extension of the known similar result for the sequence (J(n,2)). © 2017 Utilitas Mathematica Publishing Inc.. All rights reserved.
